Point guard De’Aaron Fox has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $229 million max extension to stay with the team that traded for him, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday.
Fox was the centrepiece of a blockbuster three-team deal ahead of the trade deadline last season. The Sacramento Kings netted Zach LaVine as part of the return, with the Chicago Bulls netting a bevy of players and picks.
The 27-year-old guard expressed a desire to join the Spurs last season to suit up alongside French superstar Victor Wembanyama. However, the duo both cut their seasons short due to injury.
In his limited stint with the Spurs last year, Fox averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 17 games. Over his full season, he averaged 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 62 games.
