The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have bolstered their defence with the signing of linebacker Wynton McManis, the team announced Wednesday.
McManis, a two-time CFL All-Star, was released by the Toronto Argonauts on Tuesday just ahead of his impending free agency.
“Wynton is one of the premier defenders in our league,” said TiCats head coach Scott Milanovich in a press release announcing the deal. “He plays the game the right way — with physicality, intelligence, and a relentless motor.
“Beyond what he brings on the field, his experience as a Grey Cup champion and his leadership in the locker room are invaluable and we’re excited to welcome him to our organization.”
McManis, 31, had spent the last four seasons with Toronto, recording 286 tackles, 12 sacks, and nine interceptions in 55 games, also leading the Boatmen to two Grey Cup titles in 2022 and 2024.
The Memphis native spent the first three years of his career as a member of the Calgary Stampeders, where he recorded 104 tackles and four sacks in 45 appearances, winning the first Grey Cup of his career during the 2018 season.
