Greek soccer federation angry at forced switch in Cup Final venue

Greece’s soccer federation, EPO, says this year’s Cup Final will be held on April 25 in the central city of Volos after the Athens Olympic stadium management effectively pulled back from an agreement to host the game.

An EPO statement said that it was forced to change the venue after Olympic stadium officials informed it that were the game to be held there only 20% of the roughly 80,000 seats would be available due to works that are under way. The rest included VIP seating and the media section.

EPO said this was despite the Athens stadium officials having agreed seven months earlier to host the game. The statement accused the stadium management of “behaving in a totally amateur fashion, and showing themselves incapable of administering and managing the country’s biggest stadium.”
