NEWTON, IA – The NASCAR Cup Series set the starting grid for Sunday’s race after completing Saturday afternoon’s practice and qualifying sessions.

Hendrick Motorsports brought the heat on the 0.875-mile oval. William Byron set a lap time of 23.088 seconds, good enough for second place. Kyle Larson followed behind with a lap time of 23.089, giving him the third spot. Chase Elliott slotted into eighth with a time of 23.165 and Alex Bowman rolls off 16th with a 23.255 lap time.
