This unusual coat hanger is by Taf Studio, a Swedish architecture and design firm.
It wasn’t intended for production:
“[This is a] coat hanger concept from 2012. TAF was selected by the Parisian concept shop @merciparis and the Tokyo based @cibone_tokyo to design a limited edition of ten coat hangers. The hangers was sold exclusively for charity. The exhibition at Cibone was curated by @daniel.rozensztroch and initiated by @macyokokawa.”

With a few modifications enabling flat-packability, I think this might’ve done well on the market. Perhaps if the corners were rounded at the shoulders, and if the panels were polypropylene sheets with some kind of DIY-able rivets? Though I suppose it would lose its charm without the veneer.
