For the past few years, The Globe and Mail has ranked Canada’s Most Livable Cities. But for the third edition of our ranking, we did things a little differently.
Livability is not a one-size-fits-all issue, and one of the most relevant factors in deciding where to live is the size of the community. In this edition, we introduced a way to separate the ranking based on population. With this new feature, Ottawa came out as the most livable major city, with North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Pitt Meadows, B.C. coming out on top of their respective size categories.
Our ranking looked at hundreds of communities across Canada, and organized them based on different factors that Canadians might consider when looking for a place to live.
