Algoma Public Health will soon send follow-up letters to parents and guardians across the Algoma region.
Dr. Tuinema, the Associate Medical Officer of Health at Algoma Public Health says the letters will inform families if the agency does not have an up-to-date immunization record or valid exemption for their child.
The process is required to ensure students comply with Ontario’s immunization requirements.
School suspensions for students with incomplete immunization records are planned for May of the 2025/2026 school year.
Families are encouraged to update their child’s records and/or book an appointment for any required vaccines as soon as possible to prevent suspension.
For more details about school related vaccinations, visit the public health Ontario site.
A child’s immunization record may be incomplete if APH has not received their most recent vaccination information or if the child is overdue for one or more vaccines.
