Brea Sutton shows up to support her husband, NFL star Courtland Sutton, at most of his games with the Denver Broncos

However, she does limit her attendance when it comes to away games, as she prefers to avoid the fast turnaround time of the trip

Brea doesn’t have the same travel luxuries as the NFL players do, since they get to skip things like TSA lines and baggage claim when traveling for games

Brea Sutton has supported her husband, Courtland Sutton, for nearly his entire NFL career. For some partners of football players — or “WAGs,” as they’re commonly called, an acronym for “wives and girlfriends” — that would mean sitting in the stands at every single game, but Brea isn’t always in attendance when the Denver Broncos take the field.

The wide receiver’s wife is typically in the stadium for home games, but Brea, 31, says she prefers to cheer on Courtland, 30, from the comfort of her home in Colorado when the team is traveling.

“I’m not a big flyer, so I don’t really go to away games,” she tells PEOPLE. The Atlanta native notes that she’ll take flights for vacations, like her honeymoon or planned getaways during the NFL off-season, but game day trips are a little too quick to get her on board.

“The turnaround time is so fast,” Brea explained. “They get there Saturday, they play Sunday, and then they have a police escort take them to the airport — they don’t go through normal TSA — get on the plane and come home.”

She adds, “I go to the airport like a normal human, spend two hours there before you fly, then the flying time, then all the things, then getting home, baggage claim and all that.”

Since she has a lengthier, more involved commute, Brea says Courtland usually touches down at home before her. In a perfect world, she would show up all the time, but it’s simply easier for the couple — who married in the summer of 2023 — to reunite in the comfort of their living room.

“We’re each other’s main support, I guess you would say. So having me there would be nice, but also he likes it when he gets home and I’m here and [he] doesn’t have to worry about me in another city racing around,” says Brea.

“A lot of the girls love to travel and go to their away games, and some of them go to every single away game. He’s been on this team eight years, and I’ve gone to three,” she tells PEOPLE. “I don’t move that fast. I’m like, I need to get comfortable with my heated blanket in a hotel bed for days.”
