The Amazfit T-Rex 3 and other smartwatches will get more software updates than expected
Four Amazfit wearables are set to get more software updates than expected. Zepp Health, the company behind the brand, has quietly confirmed that some smartwatch models from the T-Rex, Balance and Active series now have a later security update end-of-life date.
Three Amazfit wearables were designated as end-of-life devices at the start of 2026. On one of Zepp’s websites, it was noted that the T-Rex 3 and Bip 5 Unity smartwatches and the Helio Ring would each receive their last firmware updates in 2025. This was in line with Zepp Health’s older two-year software update policy.
However, Zepp Health has quietly updated the Zepp Security Updates page, pointing to a change of policy for these devices. As of February 4th 2026, the T-Rex 3 is said to be scheduled to receive new features and improvements until September 2027, a whole year later than previously stated. The Helio Ring’s software update period has also been extended to December 2026, eight months more than originally thought. The Bip 5 Unity will still see its last major software update in April 2026.
The security update end-of-life dates have also been changed for two other wearables. The first is the Balance 2, which was originally set to receive its final firmware in September 2025, and will now get updates until December 2026. Plus, the end-of-life date of the Active 2 Round has been extended from Jan 2027 to June 2028, inline with the Active 2 Square and the Active 2 Round Premium (curr. $109.99 at Amazon).
