KOHALA COAST, Hawai’i – The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team dropped one spot after the second round of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate, Friday at Mauna Lani Resort’s North Course.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a 298 and sits in 19th place at 583 heading into Saturday’s final round of competition.
Fifth-ranked Auburn continues to hold the lead in the team standings at 47-under 529, three strokes ahead of No. 35 Stanford (532) followed closely by No. 6 Texas (533) and No. 7 Arizona State (534).
Auburn’s Jackson Koivun shot his second straight 10-under 62 holds the lead in the player leaderboard is 20-under 124, two strokes ahead of ASU’s Michael Mjaaseth (126). Texas’ Luke Potter is four strokes back at 16-under 128.
UH’s James Whitworth carded 3-over 75 and is even par 144 for the tournament and tied for 76th place. Dane Watanabe and Nathan Szpakowicz each shot 2-over 74. Watanabe is tied for 90th at 2-over 146 while Szpakowicz is tied for 94th at 3-over 147.
Also competing for the Rainbow Warriors are Alec Hilgers (77=148, t-101st) and Chris Salem (75=152, t-112th) while Cameron Combado (78=156, t-119th) and Quinn Murray (75=162, 121st) are competing as individuals.
Saturday’s final round begins with a 7:30 a.m., shotgun start.
