Mobile mammography is coming to Vulcan to boost breast cancer screening.
The Primary Care Alberta’s mobile mammography screen test trailer will be stationed at the Vulcan Community Health Centre from March 19- 21.
“Screening mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early when treatment may work better,” a Primary Care Alberta media release said.
Southern Albertans between 45 and 74 years of age are eligible for a mammogram.
The screening is available at no cost for eligible individuals. However, appointments are required.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-667-0604.
In addition to mobile mammography clinics, screening can also be performed at specific radiology clinics and some hospitals.
Individuals are encouraged to discuss their breast cancer risk with their healthcare providers to determine whether screening is appropriate for them.
