MMA veteran Nick Diaz has called for a world title shot in the UFC against either Islam Makhachev or Khamzat Chimaev.

As we know, Nick Diaz is a pretty popular figure in mixed martial arts alongside his brother Nate. He’s done some great things throughout the course of his career, ranging from his pre-UFC days to what he did in the promotion. Alas, he hasn’t really been around for quite some time, and when he was, he wasn’t really at the same level many remember from him.

Nick Diaz will always be regarded fondly as a legend of the game but at this point in his life, and career, any UFC fight will come with a lot of red flags and questions from fans and critics alike. While Dana White may be partially interested in making it happen due to his star power, it also wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense in the grand scheme of matchmaking.

In a recent interview, Nick Diaz had the following to say about what he wants next if he does return.

Nick Diaz says he’d love to fight Islam or Khamzat for the title 👀🔥

“I wish they would just give me a title shot. I’d fight Islam or Chimaev. I think I could beat both of them. I could lose too, but I could see myself winning those fights. It’s just matchups and fighters. It’s… pic.twitter.com/QcsvxKHhHK

Nick Diaz wants a title shot

“I wish they would just give me a title shot. I’d fight Islam or Chimaev. I think I could beat both of them. I could lose too, but I could see myself winning those fights. It’s just matchups and fighters. It’s coming in with the right formula and fighting the right fight.”

Given his inactivity and what’s happened in his personal life over the course of the last few years, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing Nick in a title shot again – at least in the UFC. With that being said, there are certainly some fun fights out there to be made if he does decide to come back, but of course, the priority for most mixed martial arts fans is that he’s fit and healthy.
