The DC Universe will see Superman back in 2027 through Man of Tomorrow, with Clark Kent’s story set to continue after his 2025 introduction. Following the Superman movie ending, DC Studios is wasting no time in getting Krypton’s last son back to the big screen.

Man of Tomorrow is getting closer to finally starting principal photography, and someone who is already bulking up for their DCU return is Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor. Paolo Mascitti recently shared on his Instagram stories a workout session with the British star, revealing how the DC actor has transformed. Check it out below:

Hoult’s return in the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” will be after his cameo appearance in Peacemaker season 2, showing where he is now after the events of Superman. However, when he and David Corenswet reunite in 2027, the dynamic between Lex and the Man of Steel will take a different route.

In the Man of Tomorrow movie, the two DC rivals will actually have to join forces, as a larger threat will bring them together. In December 2025, Gunn officially announced that Lars Eidinger had been tapped to play Brainiac in the 2027 entry, making it the character’s big-screen debut.

Deadline confirmed on February 6 that Isabela Merced, who played Hawkgirl in 2025’s Superman, will be reprising the role in Man of Tomorrow, alongside Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. Gunn has confirmed that Batman and Wonder Woman will not be in the film, but that a female character – whose identity hasn’t been revaeled yet by DC Studios – is being cast for the story.

In the meantime, the DCU will resume on June 26 with the Supergirl movie, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow will open in theaters on July 9, 2027.
