Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver’s Oscar-worthy screaming match in Marriage Story is now being used to scare off wolves across America.
One moment from a Marriage Story (2020) that fans – and now wolves – will never forget was the scene the on-screen couple let out all their pent-up frustrations during their bitter divorce. According to reports by the Wall Street Journal, this iconic scene is now being played by the United States Department of Agriculture to help frighten wolves and prevent them from killing cattle.
The highest-grossing lead actor ever has lived up to her title as she and Driver pulled off a scene that would scare away even the bravest of wolves. According to reports by the WSJ, the USDA has programmed drone cowhands that broadcast this fighting scene as well as other jarring sounds, like fireworks and gunshots, to keep the dangerous predators away from sheep and cattle.

Ranchers have implemented this method called “Wolf Hazing” because they are not legally allowed to harm the once-endangered species themselves. Paul Wolf, a USDA district supervisor in Oregon, told the WSJ, “I need the wolves to respond and know that, hey, humans are bad.”

This bizarre-but-effective method nearly completely irradicated the problem. Wolf explained that after the drones were sent off to the Klamath Basin of southern Oregon, they saw a significant drop in cattle deaths.
Describing the situation, Oregon ranch owner Mary Rickert told the WSJ, “It’s basically like driving through Burger King, easy pickings for them.”
Previously during a 20-day period, 11 cows were killed off by wolves in the region. After the drones were sent off, over the next 85 days there were only two cows in total killed.
Ranch co-owner Wendy Gauthier said that although the means of scaring off the cows sound strange, it has put her and her husband’s minds at ease. She told the news outlet, “It lets me sleep at night because my husband and I are the main ones who take care of the cattle.”

Marriage Story directed by Noah Baumbach first premiered in theaters in 2020 and followed the story of a stage director and his actress wife as they navigated a messy coast-to-coast divorce. As they battle out their own problems with one another, they also become entangled in a bitter custody battle over their shared son.
The movie was considered both a critical and commercial success and was met with six Oscar award nominations. After the movies limited release in theaters, it grossed approximately $2 million at the North American box office and an additional $333,686 in other territories, totaling $2.3 million worldwide.
The emotional film resonated with many viewers at home as it portrayed the raw emotion and heartbreak that goes into undergoing a divorce. The movie not only shows the hurtful words and anger that goes into a breakup, but also the lingering love that still remains between two people after they’ve parted ways.
