Mikel Arteta’s eldest son Gabriel was named on the bench as Arsenal U18s took on Ipswich Town at the Sobha Realty Training Centre this week.
It was the first time that the winger, who isn’t officially contracted to the club, has been involved in a matchday squad with the U18s after he trained with them recently.
16-year-old Gabriel previously featured for Arsenal’s U17 side against Shrewsbury Town in a friendly in December, having also played against Watford in the Premier League Cup in October.
Schoolboy Hakeem Abubakar also received his first U18 callup against Ipswich and was listed amongst the substitutes.
Older players such as Maalik Hashi, Abraham Owusu-Gyasi, Alex Marciniak and goalkeepers Jack Talbot and Remi Lupinski all got playing time.
