PRINCETON, N.J. — The Cornell women’s tennis team earned a dramatic 4-3 victory over seventh-seeded Dartmouth on Saturday morning at Princeton’s Si Qin Family Indoor Tennis Center, rallying after dropping the doubles point on day two of the 2026 ECAC Indoor Championship. The Big Red improved to 3-2 on the season, while the Big Green fell to 4-2.
Dartmouth claimed the opening doubles point with wins at the top two positions, taking courts one and two before the third match was left unfinished. It would ultimately take a 3-1 lead before Cornell closed with a flourish.
Cornell responded in singles with four victories across the lineup. Freshman Dylan Gelber provided an early spark with a straight-set win at No. 4, and junior Victoria Zhao followed with a three-set victory at No. 3 to pull the Big Red within 3-2 after Dartmouth had earned points at Nos. 1 and 6. Cornell closed the match with back-to-back three-set wins at Nos. 5 and 2. Sophomore Andrea Martinez De Los Rios battled past Josephine Lombardi in a deciding set at No. 5 to knot the score, and minutes later sophomore Sage Loudon sealed the team victory with a gritty three-set triumph at No. 2.
The Big Red will conclude play at the ECAC Indoor Championship on Sunday, Feb. 8, facing host Princeton in the sixth-place match at 9 a.m.
