Cong Wang continued her climb up the strawweight division with a hard-fought victory over Eduarda Moura at UFC Vegas 113.

Cong had the biggest moment of the opening round, connecting with a sneaky right hand that caught Moura on the button and dropped the Brazilian.

With her nose busted up, Moura immediately went to the grappling in the second. It didn’t take long for her to put Cong’s back on the mat, settling into half-guard as blood continued to flow from her nose. Near the halfway point of the round, Moura transitioned to full mount before taking Cong’s back.

Nearing the end of the round, Moura cinched in a rear-naked choke, but to Cong’s credit, she fought the grip and freed herself, ensuring that we would go to the third and final round.

Moura desperately tried to get Cong back to the mat in round three, but it became clear that exhaustion was starting to set in for the Brazilian. That allowed Cong to fend off multiple takedown attempts and take Moura’s back with two minutes to go in the fight.

Cong looked to lock in a rear-naked choke of her own, but she couldn’t quite get the angle, allowing Moura to survive the round and make it to the scorecards.

Official Result: Cong Wang def. Eduarda Moura via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
