A new satellite, along with satellite imagery products and a space facility, will be unveiled in Iran during National Space Technology Day, according to the Iran Space Agency. The event serves as a platform to showcase progress in high-technology sectors and underline the role of space development in long-term national planning.

The country’s space programme began with the successful launch of the domestically developed Omid satellite, which operated in orbit for several months before completing its mission. That achievement later formed the basis for establishing a national observance dedicated to space technology, highlighting progress in research, engineering and industrial capacity, as reported by
Mehr News Agency, a TV BRICS partner.

Over time, Iran has established an integrated satellite lifecycle, spanning design, production and launch operations. This end-to-end approach supports technological self-reliance and contributes to the growth of knowledge-intensive industries. Space-based tools are increasingly applied in environmental monitoring, disaster management and infrastructure planning, reinforcing their economic and operational value.

During this year’s celebrations, the main prototype of the “Martyr Soleimani” satellite constellation will be presented for the first time. Hassan Salarieh, the head of the Iran Space Agency, stated further satellite launches and space projects are planned before the end of the current Iranian calendar year, reflecting a steady pipeline of development initiatives.

Technical teams are also preparing for missions using domestically produced launch vehicles, including operations linked to the Chabahar space facility. Compatibility testing, system checks and final evaluations are under way to ensure reliable performance, with launch timelines to be confirmed once all stages of readiness are completed.
