St. John’s lock-up and Her Majesty’s Penitentiary
No injuries were reported as the result of a disturbance at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary Friday night.
The Emergency Response Team was called but the Department of Justice says corrections officers were able to de-escalate the situation, and the facility was put in lockdown.
Normal operations have since resumed and the department is commending staff for resolving the situation.
The department says in a separate situation, two people were sent to hospital from the St. John’s lockup Friday night. One of the patients was admitted to hospital, while the other was treated and released.
Justice officials are not providing any further information for privacy reasons.
