Area Prep Soccer Playoff Report for Sunday, Feb. 8
In area prep soccer playoff action Saturday, No. 1 seed and defending Division II state champion Holy Cross opened with a 5-0 victory over No. 32 Belle Chasse.
Jarem Cortez led the Tigers with a pair of goals while Isaac Flores, Noel Mora and Remy Sauerwin each added a goal.
Holy Cross (17-2-2) advances to host No. 16 Ruston in the regional round. The Bearcats downed No. 17 Tara 3-1.
No. 8 seed Archbishop Rummel defeated No. 25 Northwood 2-0 at home.
Joseph Delcid and Dominic Norales each scored a goal for the Raiders.
Rummel (18-6-5) will host No. 9 Pineville Wednesday in the regional round. Pineville blanked No. 24 Higgins 3-0.
In Division I, No. 12 Fontainebleau handled No. 21 Byrd 5-1 at home.
Judah Benjamin and Matthew Tumbagahan each scored a pair of goals for the Bulldogs while Colin Gonzales added a goal.
Fontainebleau (16-3-4) advances to play at No. 5 seed Baton Rouge, who downed No. 28 Hahnville 6-1.
