Gabriel Landeskog has been named captain for Team Sweden’s men’s hockey team at Milano Cortina 2026 while rival Finland will have Mikael Granlund wearing the ‘C’.

Defencemen Victor Hedman and Erik Karlsson will serve as the alternate captains for the tournament for Sweden while Sebastian Aho and Mikko Rantanen are Finland’s alternates.

Landeskog had missed the last 14 games prior to the Olympic break for the Colorado Avalanche due to an upper-body injury.

The 33-year-old has seven goals and 22 points in 41 games this season.

Prior to this season, Landeskog missed the last three regular seasons due to knee injuries, before returning in last year’s postseason.

He was one of Sweden’s first six players to be named to their Olympic roster in June.

Landeskog helped Sweden capture the silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, the last time NHLers participated in the event prior to this year.

He has also won two gold medals with Sweden at the IIHF World Championships in 2013 and 2017.

Granlund has 12 goals and 27 points in 38 games for the Anaheim Ducks this season.

He helped Finland win the bronze medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and was named to the Olympic All-Star team after scoring three goals with seven points in six games.

The 33-year-old has won three medals at the IIHF World Championships, taking home gold in 2011 and 2022 and silver in 2016.

Cervenka named Czechia’s captain

Forward Roman Cervenka has been named Czechia’s captain for Milano Cortina 2026.

David Pastrnak and Radko Gudas are serving as the two alternate captains.

Cervenka, 40, currently plays for HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech Extraliga. He has 17 goals and 56 points in 40 games this season.

He played one season in the NHL with the Calgary Flames in 2012-13, scoring nine goals with 17 points in 39 games. He also had stints playing in Switzerland and the KHL.

Cervenka helped Czechia win gold medals at the IIHF World Championships in 2010 and 2024.
