One person was injured in a stabbing on Saturday evening at a Montreal metro station.
Emergency services were alerted by a 911 call at around 10 p.m.
They responded to the Place-des-Arts station on the green line of the Montreal metro, on De Bleury Street in downtown Montreal.
“When police arrived on the scene, they located a victim, a 30-year-old man. He had been wounded in the upper body with a knife and was taken to hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
The motive for the crime was unknown, and the suspect reportedly fled on foot before police arrived.
“A (security) perimeter was set up to protect the scene for investigators and forensic technicians so that they could analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event,” said Chèvrefils.
Investigators are expected to interview the victim when his condition allows. They will also be looking for surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the assault.
The SPVM investigation is ongoing.
