Witnesses say multiple shots were fired at the victim, a man sitting in an SUV at Woodbine mall. CTV’s Beth MacDonell reports.

Police identified the 37-year-old victim who died following a shooting at Woodbine Mall on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the shopping centre located at Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.

Toronto police said they found a man with gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene, who was then transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He died at the hospital, police said.

In a news release on Sunday, police identified the victim as Chanda Kumar Raja Nandakumar, of Brampton.

Images taken from the scene show a white SUV with bullet holes in the windshield and a shattered window on the driver’s side.

Police said a suspect, or suspects, fled in a vehicle after the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not known, but Insp. Errol Watson told reporters Saturday that they believe it was a targeted incident.

The shooting marks Toronto’s third homicide of the year.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
