The Warriors won the first meeting, 131-118, back in October, thanks, in part, to contributions from star guard Steph Curry, who had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the game.

This time around, Golden State won’t have Curry’s services.

Steph Curry ruled out vs. Grizzlies with ‘runner’s knee’

Curry has been officially ruled out of the game due to right patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is also known as “runner’s knee — an injury is defined by pain and swelling around the kneecap area.

This will be the fourth consecutive contest missed by Curry due to the injury. The Warriors obviously don’t want to rush their star guard back onto the court until he feels completely comfortable with the knee. For now, he’s still considered day-to-day moving forward.

So far this season, Curry has appeared in 39 games for the Warriors. He’s averaging  27.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per performance.

In addition to Steph, the Warriors will also be without Jimmy Butler (ACL tear), Seth Curry (left sciatic nerve irritation), LJ Cryer (hamstring) and Kristaps Porzingis (left Achilles tendon injury management) for the contest.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies will be missing Ja Morant (UCL sprain), Santi Aldama (right knee injury management), Brandon Clarke (right calf strain) and Zach Edey (left ankle stress reaction).
