RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Minnesota men’s golf team concluded day one of the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club, Monday.

The Golden Gophers finished 15th among the field with a team score of 2-under-par (286) through round one. 

Notable Performances: 

Freshman Joe Honsa led the team with a score of 2-under-par (70), including two birdies. Honsa picked up his third eagle of the season on the fifth hole, helping him finish tied for 33rd among all golfers. 

Sophomore Jack Crousore and senior Jack Wetzel finished 1-under-par (71). Each Gopher birdied the second and 15th holes, including another from Wetzel on the 18th hole. The two tied for 45th place to end the day.

Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu carded a score of 2-over-par (74). He collected four birdies through the first 18 holes, the most among the team.

Senior Cormac Sharpe finished 4-over-par (76), picking up a birdie on the third hole.
