Alberta is known for its great outdoors, and now one spot in the province has been named as having one of the best fishing rivers in Canada.
So pack your tackle box because, according to Fishing Booker, Edmonton has been named a top fishing city in Canada for 2026.
Edmonton landed on the list thanks to the mighty North Saskatchewan, which is the sole stream in Alberta to be featured, with places in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario comprising much of the list.

The site stated that with Edmonton being situated right in the heart of the Prairies, it’s a city that “defies expectations with its massive urban parkland and vibrant festival scene,” with the North Saskatchewan River winding through the center of the city, creating a lush green ribbon that provides a natural escape for residents and visitors alike.
“It’s a place of high energy, big skies, and a community that embraces the outdoors in every season.”
The site also suggests anglers take a little trip west of the city if they are able to, with Wabamun Lake providing a relaxing environment for a weekend trip.
While we are still in the grips of winter, a lake in Alberta was recently named one of the best places to go ice fishing in Canada.
