The 27-year-old striker reflected on his finishing power while expressing a desire to deliver a technically beautiful performance. Nico Carrillo wants to create a memorable showcase for fans and himself when reviewing the fight footage.
Nico Carrillo brings a 29-4 record into this interim title challenge. Meanwhile, Shadow carries an 81-14 slate into the contest, as well as the distinction of being a Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion.
Nico Carrillo Aims for Power and Perfection at ONE Fight Night 40
Discussing his approach to the interim title clash, Nico Carrillo detailed his ability to finish any opponent while revealing his artistic ambitions for this performance. The Scottish striker wants to blend devastating power with technical excellence that creates a visually stunning showcase.
“I can bring my power out in any fight and put anybody away, but sometimes it’s not prettier than that, so I want to make this fight look, for the fans and for me watching it back, as beautiful and as perfect as I can,” Nico Carrillo said.
The Scottish destroyer rebounded from his January 2025 interim bantamweight title loss to Nabil Anane by moving up to featherweight. He demolished Thai veteran Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and American striker Luke Lessei via consecutive second-round stoppages.

Nico Carrillo praised the Thai contender’s well-rounded skill set and similar career trajectory. The “King of the North” noted how both fighters overcame early setbacks to build championship momentum through consistent performances.
“Shadow’s just all-round good. He’s good at everything. He had a bit of a rocky start when he came to ONE Championship, and then found his feet, and he’s just been on the same kind of trajectory as myself,” the Scot explained.
Shadow’s phenomenal performances in Muay Thai competition established him as a legitimate contender. The Singha Mawynn representative brings three finishes across his six promotional Muay Thai victories into this interim title opportunity.

Looking beyond personal rivalries, the Scottish knockout artist underlined his singular focus on capturing title belts rather than targeting specific opponents. Carrillo made clear he has never harbored hatred toward any fighter or sought particular matchups.
“For me, it’s never an opposition. For me, it’s just whoever holds the gold. That’s always my goal. I made that very clear from the start. I’ve never had hatred for anyone. I’ve never wanted to fight a certain person. I just wanted to fight for gold, and that’s still the case,” Carrillo said.
The interim title opportunity arose after reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai suffered a leg injury during his shocking 52-second TKO loss to China’s Liu Mengyang in December 2025. The winner will become the clear next challenger once Tawanchai receives medical clearance.
ONE Fight Night 40 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, February 13. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event is free for all Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.
