Peel police are searching for a man who fled the country after he allegedly sexually assaulted multiple people at a place of worship in Brampton where he worked as a youth director.

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit say they were made aware of the alleged sexual assaults on Feb. 3.

They say the accused worked as a youth director at a church in Brampton and led “multiple programs attended by youth.”

Christopher Brito De Araujo, 24, of Mississauga, is wanted for five counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual exploitation, sexual interference, voyeurism, and distributing intimate images without consent.

Police say that on Feb. 2, Brito De Araujo fled the country to Brazil.

The investigation remains ongoing and investigators believe there may be additional victims.
