Fitbit is expanding the availability of a preview of its AI-powered personal health coach to more regions, including Canada.

Previously only available in the U.S., personal health coach will roll out to eligible Fitbit Premium users in Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The rollout begins today and will continue “over the next few weeks,” according to a post on Google’s Keyword blog.

Alongside the rollout, Fitbit is expanding the public preview to iOS users in all those regions.

Google describes personal health coach as “a fitness trainer, a sleep coach and a health and wellness advisor” built with Gemini, the search giant’s large language model (LLM). When Google announced personal health coach last year, it promised a secure and personalized experience.

The preview coach experience starts with a short conversation where users tell the coach what their goals are. From there, the coach experience can help review and adjust fitness plans, set goals, check progress, create workouts, offer advice, and more. It can also help improve sleep with detailed analysis, personalized recommendations, and more.

Overall, personal health coach sounds like a compelling features, especially for someone like me who just needs a little help maintaining a basic fitness routine. That said, I’m a bit skeptical about how well the personal health coach will work and how accurate it will be. LLMs aren’t exactly known for being accurate and have a tendency to just make stuff up — not exactly what I’m looking for when it comes to health advice.

With that said, I’ll be interested to test out the feature once it arrives on my phone and see just how useful personal health coach really is.
