Those looking to catch the Portland Fire in action ahead of their scheduled May 9 debut in the WNBA are in luck.
On Wednesday, the Fire announced two preseason games.
The Fire are scheduled to play the Seattle Storm on April 29 at Climate Pledge Arena, reigniting the Pacific Northwest rivalry on the hardwood. Tipoff for that game will be 7 p.m.
A few days later, the Fire will host their first home game since 2002. The Moda Center will play host to the Los Angeles Sparks on May 3 at 4 p.m.
This game could mark the return to Oregon for former Southridge and Mountainside high school star Cameron Brink, who was drafted by the Sparks with the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Brink was the Oregon Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and was a high school All-American in 2020.
The Portland Fire are scheduled to open the 2026 WNBA season on May 9, hosting the Chicago Sky.
All dates for the 2026 season remain tentative, as there is still no collective bargaining agreement signed between the WNBA and the player’s association. As both sides remain in negotiations, there is a chance the 2026 season is postponed until later in the summer due to a player strike.
