On a recent trip, new parents Nora and Travis were enjoying a sunny morning on the balcony feeding their 4-month-old baby, nicknamed Bellita, when something magical happened — in swept a tiny visitor.
It was a hummingbird who had taken an interest in the family’s youngest member.
“The moment was completely unexpected,” Nora told The Dodo. “The hummingbird appeared and hovered so gently near Bellita. I remember feeling a rush of emotions all at once.”
At one point, the hummingbird even appeared to give Bellita a kiss.
“Our hearts completely melted,” Nora said.
The hummingbird looked completely at ease, pausing momentarily as if to greet Bellita’s parents, as well. To Nora, this sweet interaction seemed like something more than just a random encounter.
“In our family, we believe hummingbirds are special visitors. In fact, we truly felt that this little hummingbird was Bellita’s grandpa, Bobby, who unexpectedly passed away before she was born,” Nora said. “It felt like he came to visit her and leave a blessing for our family.”
Nora is grateful for that “blessing” and for having her phone at the ready to record it for posterity.
“It felt like perfect timing. I love knowing that I’ll be able to show Bellita this moment when she’s older,” Nora said. “This moment will always remain a cherished memory for us. It brought comfort, peace and a sense of connection beyond words.”
