The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed Canadian receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr., per sources.

The 28-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Edmonton Elks, appearing in 34 regular-season games with the team. He caught 62 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns for the Green and Gold in 2025, following a 2024 campaign that saw him snag 85 receptions for 847 yards and five majors.

The five-foot-eleven, 191-pound target was originally selected in the third round of the 2019 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. Gittens Jr. spent his first four CFL seasons in Toronto, hauling in 167 passes for 2,132 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was twice named All-East Division and reached his peak with a 1,101-yard campaign in 2022, earning an All-CFL selection and being named a finalist for Most Outstanding Canadian.

Born in Guyana and raised in Ottawa, Ont., Gittens attended Wilfrid Laurier University, where he amassed 206 receptions for 2,682 yards and 17 touchdowns in 32 games. He also added a rushing major and four more scores as a returner.

Gittens Jr. was a two-time first-team All-Canadian selection, earning dual honours as a returner on both occasions, and a four-time OUA all-star, while being named the conference’s Most Valuable Player in 2017.

CFL free agency officially got underway on Tuesday, February 10 at 12:00 p.m. EST.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
