If you’re looking for the epicenter of high school soccer in North Texas right now, just follow the sound of the Dragon’s roar.
Both theCarroll boys and girls soccer teams have secured top-tier spots in the latest “Dallas Morning News” area rankings, cementing the school’s reputation as a dual-threat powerhouse in Class 6A.
The Lady Dragons currently sit at No. 1 in the Class 6A rankings with a stellar 14-0-1 record. Their dominance in District 4-6A has been a clinic in balanced play; the girls currently boast an overall goal differential of plus-71 as of February 12.
The most terrifying part for opponents? The committee approach: not a single Lady Dragon appears in the top 20 scorers in the DFW metroplex, proving that their offensive and defensive efforts are truly a team-wide suffocating force.
Recent district results tell the story:
8-0 win vs. Justin Northwest
5-0 win vs. Eaton
4-0 win vs. L.D. Bell
5-1 win vs. Keller Central
On the boys’ side, the Dragons are breathing down the necks of the 6A leaders, ranked No. 3 in the classification with an unblemished 11-0-3 record. The team is playing with inspired energy following a historic milestone: head coach Chris Padilla recently claimed his 100th career win, a testament to the program’s long-term consistency and his leadership on the pitch.
With eight wins, zero losses and three ties, the boys have maintained a strong plus-20 goal differential. However, the road to a District 4-6A title won’t be a cakewalk. Local rival Byron Nelson is hot on their trail in the standings, making every upcoming match a “must-win” to maintain their lead. The rivalry reaches a fever pitch this week as the Dragons travel to Northwest ISD Stadium on February 13 at 7:30 p.m. for a massive district showdown against the Bobcats. It’s still early in the season, but given that Byron Nelson is hungry to avenge an earlier 3-1 loss to Carroll, this Friday night clash is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games in the state this year.
