The University of Minnesota Duluth Tennis Team fell to visiting Bemidji State, 6-1, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action Friday night at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center (DISC). 

Freshman Paige Heideman picked up the lone point for the Bulldogs, and her third-straight victory, with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ana Lucia Ibanez Castro at No. 4 singles. The last time a rookie opened their debut campaign with three-consecutive wins was Carly Chaney, who won a program-record 11-straight matches in 2023. 

Chaney and freshman Morgan Hammer secured a win at No. 3 doubles, defeating Valesca Rodriguez and Ibanez Castro, 6-4. Seniors Lilly Nelson and Aria Hanson also eared a win at No. 4 doubles. 

The Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1 NSIC) are back in action Sunday when they host St. Cloud State at 1:30 p.m. at the DISC to continue NSIC play.
