Team Canada is set to kick off its men’s hockey tournament on Thursday against Czechia, but it’s clear that their eyes are still on their biggest rival: Team USA.

In a short video now going viral among hockey fans, Canadian forwards Brad Marchand and Seth Jarvis, along with goaltender Adin Hill, were asked to say three nice things about the Americans. And the results are hilarious.

Marchand, never shy with his words, delivered a response that had fans in stitches: “They’re alive, they can skate, and they like food.” Jarvis chimed in with his own playful answer: “I live in the United States, Jaccob Slavin (my Carolina Hurricanes teammate) is a good person, and they’ve got cool hockey gloves.”

The clip has been widely shared, and social media fans are loving it.

“I am so over-the-moon happy that Jarvy gets to be part of this,” one fan wrote.

“Stop making me like Brad Marchand,” said another.

“Adding Seth Jarvis was such a good move,” added a third.

“‘They’re alive’—lol. I’m not typically a Brad Marchand fan, but he’s genuinely funny,” noted a fourth.

It’s a rare moment of humour and lightheartedness ahead of a high-stakes rivalry. With the Olympic tournament just beginning, it seems Canada’s stars are keeping things loose, while also reminding fans why the Canada–USA hockey rivalry is always must-watch.
