The Baltimore Ravens have hired former CFL coach and quarterback Marcus Brady as their passing game coordinator.
Brady has spent the past two seasons in the same role with the Los Angeles Chargers, but was let go this offseason after losing out on a promotion to offensive coordinator to former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels. LA finished 11-6 in both seasons during his tenure, losing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs each time.
The 46-year-old reunites with former Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who was recently hired as Baltimore’s head coach, and will assist offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.
Brady spent the 2023 season as a senior offensive assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping the team to an 11-6 record. He joined that team late in 2022, contributing to an appearance in Super Bowl LVII.
The San Diego, Cal., native previously served as offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, earning promotion in 2021 after three seasons coaching the club’s quarterbacks. Indianapolis narrowly missed the postseason with a 9-8 record that year but finished eighth league-wide in scoring (26.5 points per game) and second league-wide in rushing yards (149.4 per game) thanks to a breakout season from running back Jonathan Taylor.
He was fired by the Colts eight games into the 2022 season after a 3-4-1 start where the team averaged 16.1 points per game, which ranked third-worst in the NFL, along with 339.4 yards per game, which was close to the middle of the pack.
Brady played seven seasons at quarterback in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Montreal Alouettes, throwing for 3,321 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions and rushing 122 times for 679 yards and six touchdowns.
He ended his playing career to pursue coaching and served as the receivers coach with Montreal under Marc Trestman for three seasons (2009-2011) before becoming the offensive coordinator in 2012. He left for Toronto in 2013 to join former colleague Scott Milanovich as the team’s offensive coordinator and served five years there before heading south to the NFL. In total, he won three Grey Cups as an assistant in the CFL.
The Baltimore Ravens finished the 2025 season with an 8-9 record and missed the postseason, leading to the firing of longtime head coach John Harbaugh. Brady will help form a passing attack led by two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
