Noni Madueke followed many before him to join Mikel Arteta’s project at Arsenal from Chelsea.

In recent years, Arteta has taken quite a liking to Chelsea players, with the same happening this summer.

Andrea Berta secured transfers for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Madueke ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, taking two more players from their rivals.

While Kepa has impressed in pre-season, Madueke has only just joined the Arsenal squad after being granted additional leave following his return from the Club World Cup.

Madueke’s £52m transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal has been spoken about a lot.

Some think the Gunners have overpaid for the winger, while others believe Arteta can get the best out of the 23-year-old.

One figure who is firmly in the England international’s corner is his development coach, Saul Isaksson-Hurst.

Madueke’s personal coach already thinks the forward will start at Arsenal, noticing the weaknesses in Gabriel Martinelli’s game that his client could exploit.

Aside from talking to Hayters TV about competition within the Arsenal squad, Isaksson-Hurst shared an insight into how Madueke is feeling ahead of making his debut.

“He’s really buzzing and excited for the challenge,” the performance coach said.

“He’s already had that move to Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it’s not going to faze him, but he’s excited, he’s ready, he’s motivated.”

Isaksson-Hurst then revealed the astonishing ambition that Madueke has, insisting that the player can’t wait to get working alongside Arteta.

“He wants to be one of the best players in the world, he wants to be a starter in that team. So he’s excited to get started with Arteta and show him what he can do.”

Madueke takes part in first Arsenal training session

Arteta denied Madueke’s request to cut his holidays short to get started at Arsenal.

Now, the wait is over for the England international, who reported to Colney for his first training session with his new teammates.

Arsenal’s club photographers snapped Madueke in action, where he was seen putting the work in alongside the club’s other new signings.

The new Gunners will get their first taste of the Emirates over the coming week, with the last of Arsenal’s two pre-season friendlies being played in N5.
