On Friday, the Knicks signed a historic (he’s the youngest player ever to play for the Polish national team) 22-year-old former San Antonio Spurs forward to assist Jalen Brunson.

“The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed Jeremy Sochan,” the organization announced. “Sochan, 22 years old (6-8, 230 pounds), has appeared in 28 games with the San Antonio Spurs this season, recording 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists over 12.8 minutes.”

“He was the seventh fastest Spur in franchise history to record 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.  Over parts of four seasons, he holds career averages of 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists over 25.3 minutes in 212 games (149 starts) for the Spurs.”

Sochan received interest from several contending franchises after the Spurs waived him on Tuesday. While things didn’t work out the way Sochan likely envisioned in San Antonio, the former lottery pick exhibited enough promise to be deemed a valuable asset on the buyout market.

Sochan is an athletically gifted 6-foot-8 forward known for high-motor and fluidity as a slasher. The Baylor product averaged 11.0 points and 5.3 assists with the Spurs as a first-year pro, earning him All-Rookie second team honors.

It’ll be interesting to see how Sochan meshes with the Knicks moving forward.
