Brad Marchand will not dress for the second straight game as Canada’s men’s hockey team wraps up preliminary round action against France Sunday at Milano Cortina 2026.

The Florida Panthers forward did not play in Canada’s 5-1 victory over Switzerland on Friday but head coach Jon Cooper initially told reporters he would be back in against France.

The 37-year-old missed 10 of Florida’s 15 final games heading into the Olympic break but picked up an assist and was a plus-1 in Canada’s 5-0 opening win against Czechia on Thursday. According to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug, Marchand skated for about 40 minutes Sunday morning and seemed to be moving well.

He has 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points in 46 games this season so far for the Panthers.

Forward Seth Jarvis drew in for Marchand against Switzerland and remains in the lineup Sunday.

Meanwhile, defenceman Josh Morrissey is again a scratch Sunday against France after he was forced out of the Olympic opener with an undisclosed injury. Cooper stressed on Friday that the Winnipeg Jets blueliner was not being ruled out for the tournament.

Jordan Binnington will get the nod in net Sunday with Logan Thompson serving as the backup.
