Loyola Intercollegiate Round 1 Results



GOODYEAR, Ariz. – North Dakota State men’s golf opened up the spring semester on Sunday with the first round of the Loyola Intercollegiate, sitting in ninth overall in the 20-team field after the opening 18 holes at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
 
Rylin Petry led the way for the Bison on day one, firing a -2 round of 70. Petry had a pair of birdies on the par-5 second hole and the par-5 14th. He also carded the only eagle for the Bison with a three on the par-five ninth hole. Petry had just two bogeys, coming back-to-back on holes four and five, to go along with 13 pars. Petry sits in a tie for 13th overall in the 119-golfer field.
 
Jake Skarperud also shot under par on the day, carding a -1 round of 71. Skarperud, like Petry recorded birdies on holes two and 14. He also had a birdie on the par-5 11th hole. Skarperud also recorded 13 pars with just two bogeys on the afternoon. Skarperud sits in a tie for 24th place headed into day two.
 
Andrew Ballou shot even par for the Bison, recording a 72 to sit in a tie for 38th. Starting on hole 15 to begin the day, Ballou recorded 13-straight pars to start the day, before a pair of birdies and a pair of bogeys over the final five holes.
 
Gabe Benson and Carter White matched +3 rounds of 75 to wrap the Bison team scoring. Benson had three birdies and 10 pars on the day, while White had four birdies and eight pars. Max Wilson, playing as an individual, shot a +6 round of 78 in the first round.
 
The Bison will return to action Monday morning with the second round. The Bison are set to tee off at 9:45 a.m. CT.
