Monday marks the 19th Family Day a provincial holiday observed in Ontario.
Below is a list of service disruptions you can expect.
Shopping
Most grocery stores will be closed on the holiday Monday. The St. Jacobs Farmers Market will also be closed.
The Kitchener Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a family friendly Family Day celebration. Select food vendors will also be open.
Fairview Mall and Conestoga Mall will both be closed.
All LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed. Select wine racks will be open.
City Services
All regional administrative offices will be closed. Kitchener City Hall remains open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. but there will be no in person services.
The Service First Call Centre remains open.
Regular curbside waste collection will go ahead. Transfer stations for residential drop off will be closed in both Cambridge and Waterloo.
All Employment Services will be closed.
Public Health clinics will be closed.
Grand River Transit
Grand River Transit will operate on a holiday service schedule.
Subscription trips for MobilityPLUS will automatically be cancelled. Those customers can rebook trips by calling 519-744-2241 in advance.
Grand River Transit Customer Service Centres will be closed.
Activities
If you’re looking for things to do with the family, consider checking out one of the region’s museums.
Schneider Haus, Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and McDougall Cottage Historic Site will all be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The weather is looking a bit on edge, with a high of 2 C but a chance of showers. If the showers hold up, outdoor rinks will be open for skating.
