After watching Canada’s last two preliminary round games from the stands, veteran forward Brad Marchand will be in the lineup for the quarter-finals, according to head coach Jon Cooper.

Cooper made the announcement following Canada’s 10-2 rout of France to close Group A play on Sunday.

Marchand also missed Friday’s 5-1 win over Switzerland. He recorded an assist in Canada’s 5-0 shutout victory in the tournament opener.

The 37-year-old, who is competing in his first Olympics, has 25 goals and 25 assists over 46 games with the Florida Panthers in 2025-26, his 17th season in the NHL.

Marchand scored one goal over four games during last winter’s Four Nations Face-Off.

The four quarter-final games go on Wednesday following Tuesday’s qualification games.
