UFC CEO Dana White weighed in on one of fighting’s most random beefs in between Joaquin Buckley and Terence Crawford.
The ongoing debate between MMA and Boxing competitors continues to take combat sports fans by storm.
UFC star Joaquin Buckley and Boxing superstar Terence Crawford recently traded social media barbs surrounding which combat sport is superior. Crawford, during a recent sitdown with Shakur Stevenson on Adin Ross’ stream, dismissed MMA as a less technical sport compared to boxing.
This prompted a fiery response from Buckley, who threatened to ‘kill’ Crawford and/or Stevenson if they were to have a street fight. Buckley is considered one of the UFC’s most dangerous knockout artists.
The ongoing beef between Buckley, Crawford, and Stevenson has reignited the Boxing vs. MMA debate amongst combat sports fans. For UFC CEO Dana White, who launched his latest escapade in boxing this year, the debate is facetious.
Dana White: ‘Not thrilled’ about Joaquin Buckley/Terence Crawford feud
At a Zuffa Boxing post-fight press conference, White was asked about the recent back-and-forths between Buckley, Crawford, and Stevenson.
“Terence Crawford and who? UFC Buckley? Boxing?” White said of the Buckley/Crawford feud.
“Are we still talking about this s—? Well, I didn’t know anything about it and I’m not thrilled that you told me about it, yeah, everyone knows how I feel about that.
“Crawford and Buckley boxing or Crawford who just made f—— $55 million is gonna go street fight Buckley?” (h/t Bloody Elbow)
Buckley hasn’t fought since a loss to former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC Atlanta last year. Meanwhile, Crawford announced his boxing retirement in recent months after a win over Canelo Alvarez.
The Boxing vs. MMA debate rages on. As White alluded in his above remarks, the UFC headman wants nothing to do with the ongoing dialogue between two of his biggest business ventures.
