The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American offensive lineman Martez Ivey, 3DownNation has confirmed. AJ Jakubec was first to report.
The Edmonton Elks released Ivey on Friday.
The 30-year-old had spent the last four seasons in the Alberta capital, including starting 18 games at left tackle in 2025. He was named an All-CFL West Division selection in 2024 and started all 66 games he appeared in during his time in Green and Gold.
The Apopka, Fla. native started his three-down league career with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021, dressing for one game with the team, while Ryan Dinwiddie was head coach with the Double Blue. He was traded to Edmonton prior to the 2022 season.
The six-foot-three, 305-pound blocker was twice named second-team All-Southeastern Conference at the University of Florida. He went unselected in the 2019 NFL Draft but signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent. Ivey also had stints with the Carolina Panthers and the XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers.
Ottawa finished fourth in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 4-14 record, missing the playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Dru Brown went 2-7 over nine starts at quarterback, throwing for 2,389 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Dustin Crum went 2-4 over six starts, throwing for 1,771 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Redblacks ranked sixth in net offence, fifth in net defence, and ninth with a turnover differential of minus-16. The club’s leading rusher was William Stanback with 698 yards, leading receiver was Justin Hardy with 1,019 yards, and leading tackler was Adarius Pickett with 84 tackles. Ottawa finished eighth in attendance with average crowds of 18,136, which was a 4.2 percent decrease from the previous year.
