“Currently the CT scan wait time at NBRHC is already better than the provincial target, and this investment will improve upon that number,” said Kim McElroy, communications officer for the health centre.

“Based on this funding this would give NBRHC 1,948 additional hours.”

Paul Heinrich, NBRHC President & CEO said as our communities grow and demands for hospital services increase, additional CT hours means we can reduce wait times and better serve the health care needs of our patients.”

According to the Ontario Health website, Priority 1 patients are seen immediately and not included in provincial wait times.

Priority two patients at North Bay Regional Health Centre are seen immediately and there is no waiting time, according to Ontario Health statistics in December.

Priority 3 patients should be scanned within 10 days. The average wait time at the North Bay Regional Health Centre is seven days — three days shorter than the provincial average.

When it comes to Priority 4 patients the provincial target time is 28 days, however at the North Bay Regional Health Centre the wait time is one day longer at 29 days.
