Sidney Crosby just keeps adding to his Olympic legend, even if it’s in ways that might not get nearly as much attention as his famed Vancouver 2010 Golden Goal.

The Canadian captain played a part in a pretty big rout of France on Sunday, a 10-2 drubbing that helped his team secure first place overall after the preliminary round.

Crosby ended up with a goal and two assists on the day, putting the puck past French goalie Julian Junca late in the second period for the team’s sixth score of the day.

And while Junca didn’t exactly have a performance to remember, getting yanked before the start of the third period he still was quite in good spirits when talking about it Monday.

As it turns out, yesterday’s game coincided with his 28th birthday, and he felt like he got “three gifts” on the day.

“The first gift is the Olympics, the second is playing Canada, and the third is a little surprise,” Junca shared via the French team’s X account.

The third gift, as it turns out, was from Crosby himself, who gifted Junca a stick from the game after scoring on him.

“It wasn’t his best goal, but it gave us a chance to chat with him a bit,” Junca said.

The gesture sounds like classic Crosby, and it also sounds pretty on-brand that the move seemed to have gone unnoticed by the media, until now.

France went 0-3 in the preliminary round, getting outscored by a 20-5 score by their opponents. But due to the Olympics’ format, they’ve still got a chance to compete for a medal, as they take on Germany on Tuesday in the qualification round. The winner moves on to play Slovakia for a spot in the semifinal.

“Now we’ve turned the page and reset, and we’re going to prepare for tomorrow’s match,” Junca said.
