Long weekends are the best, but not everything will be open in Brampton on Family Day, Feb. 16, 2026, during regular business hours.

Here’s what you need to know about what’s open and closed on the Family Day holiday Monday in Brampton.

Open:

Movie theatres.
Shoppers Drug Mart locations.
Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba.
Most convenience stores.
Some restaurants (call ahead to be sure).
Bramalea City Centre will have reduced hours of operation from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mount Chinguacousy tube hill open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Some Brampton Recreation Centres are open for drop-in swimming, skating and sports (call ahead or check online to be sure).
Outdoor skating rinks.
Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) with free admission.
All essential and critical services including Peel Regional Police, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services.

Closed:

LCBO stores.
The Beer Store.
Shoppers World.
Most major grocery stores.
All Brampton Library branches.
Brampton Animal Shelter.
Provincial Government offices.
Banks.
City Hall and select corporate facilities will be closed on Monday, reopening and resuming walk-in services on Tuesday.

Transit

Brampton Transit will operate on a modified holiday service schedule on Family Day.
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Garbage

Garbage pickup is cancelled on Family Day across Brampton and the Region of Peel. Waste scheduled for pick-up on Monday will be collected on Tuesday instead.
All Community Recycling Centres will be closed on Family Day Monday and will return to the regular schedule on Tuesday.
