1. PHOTOS: Pattullo Bridge draws crowds days before deconstruction starts
The 89-year-old Pattullo Bridge was popular with pedestrians and cyclists over the weekend during the final days of public access to the Fraser River crossing.
2. Surrey babies (6,000 a year) benefit from sold-out ‘Journey’ gala Feb. 28
The final night of February brings another Celebration of Care Gala in Surrey, this time in support of the most needy of close to 6,000 babies born at Surrey Memorial Hospital each year.
3. BUCHOLTZ: Get mayors from other communities out of Surrey’s business
Members of Surrey council had little good to say about Metro Vancouver, while discussing conflicts between the regional government and the three major South Fraser cities – Surrey, Delta and Langley Township – at the Feb. 9 council meeting. 4. Homicide investigation team identifies man killed in Chilliwack shooting
A man who died in a shooting in a Chilliwack home on Feb. 15 has been identified by investigators. Kristopher Benson, 48, died of a gunshot wound in a home on Mellard Avenue; a second man was injured and is in stable condition in hospital.
5. VIDEO: Vigil for Tumbler Ridge in Langley City
A crowd of people gathered in Langley City’s Douglas Park Sunday for a candlelight vigil and moment of silence to honour the victims of the Tumbler Ridge shootings and the memory of Zoey Benoit, who studied at a local school.
