Player signings in the Canadian Football League have slowed since last week’s official opening to free agency.

That means that most teams across the league are focusing on the rosters that they’ve assembled.

Arash Madani told SportsCage that this is especially true with the Montreal Alouettes and quarterback Davis Alexander, who battled a hamstring injury throughout the 2025 season.

“It sounds like Davis Alexander, every month or two, is going to come up to Montreal, check in with the trainers, and see where the hamstring is and make sure he’s not overdoing it like he did last offseason, which led to some of those leg and lower body issues.”

“The Alouettes are hellbent on trying to find a way to make Davis Alexander as healthy as possible,” Madani added. “That matters because you’re talking about the reigning East Division champions. You’re talking about a player who, when he was on the football field, was incredibly effective.”
