Multiple highways in southwestern Manitoba are closed Tuesday evening as a strong winter storm rolls into the province.

Significant snowfall combined with strong winds has left highways in the area treacherous.

The following highways are closed as of 9:40 p.m:

Highway 83, from the junction of Highway 57 to Russell
Highway 45, from Russell to Vista
Highway 5, from Roblin to PR 584.

The province is reminding motorists that closure gates and message signs may not be present at closure locations. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the closed highways and find another route.
